Just a small update. As a few of you know, I drove the Scamp from my place up near Newburyport down to the upcoming club club meeting at DD in Natick. It's about 50 or so miles. The car did fine with no real issues. The M/C is pretty much dead, but it stops the car when you stand on it hard. The car also ran okay, but not great. Really want to put in the Pertronics unit and give it the rest of the tune up to try to get it to run right. Still, overall, it was a fun trip. Oh, and the heat works great! It only comes out at the floor, but hey, at least it functions!

So today I went to put in the new master cylinder I had ordered and found I received the wrong unit! GRRR! I hate when that happens! Guess I should've checked the box earlier (which I thought I had). Oh, well. M/C number two on its' way and should be here soon. Once I get that, I just need to install it, install the tailpipe, and replace one of my reverse bulbs that's out and I should be good to get a sticker.

Lastly, I had some tires mounted on the rally wheels I picked up. I plan on putting them on when I check and bleed the drum brakes. Should change the look quite a bit. I could still use some new rear springs, though.

Till next time...

Oh, I forgot to post up some pics of the car "clean" (at least on the outside). Looks a bit better than it did!

Looks good, the Rallyes should make it look less like a grammas car.

Thought I'd throw on another update since it's been a while.

I was finally able to get the master cylinder/braking issue resolved. I found the correct one (same size cylinders with the screw on cover), bench bled it, then installed it. Next, I replaced all the front lines with stainless steel as some weren't looking so hot. I also replaced the distribution block in case that's what was giving me problems. I checked/adjusted the brakes all around and they were in good shape. I repacked the front wheel bearings and bled the wheel cylinders. After a test drive, I give them a thumbs up. For four wheel drums, she stops pretty good now.

I also added a tailpipe as the exhaust ended with the muffler. I still need to put on a rear hanger as it still doesn't have one. At least it's legal. :)

After all this work, I was finally able to drive it...kind of. It drove fine, but was kind of running like crap. Off idle it wanted to stall. You had to give it just a LITTLE pedal to get it moving. Once going, you could punch it and it would be okay. It felt similar to how my old Scout used to run when the points were junk, so I figured the probably needed replacing. I decided to upgrade to a Pertronix unit with coil. I got everything installed under the cap but forgot about the ballast resistor. I didn't want to hack into the wiring to make it work, so I gutted the ballast resistor and welded in a fat wire in between the contacts for the stock look. Then I hit the key. AND......nothing. It would turn over, but not start. I did some checking online and found the timing will need to be adjusted after the Pertronix install. Once I got it going, I adjusted the timing to around stock specs. Heeeeeey! The car runs good now!!! It can still probably use a new cap, wires and plugs, but at least she's drivable. Of course I did this all right when winter started. I have been able to drive it a couple times, but I can't wait until spring to take full advantage of it. I also plan on finishing the tune up on it.

Finally, I installed the rally wheels and better tires. I haven't put the trim runs or center caps on it yet. I'll get to it in the spring.

So what's the plan now? I plan on driving it! And selling it! Wait...what?! I currently have the car up for sale as I'm looking at a couple other cars. I found a nice Duster 340 that I'm interested in. So, if you're interested, let me know.

Now, some pics (oh, it's dirty again, by the way).
