Some improvements

Postby dge467 » Tue Apr 12, 2016 7:28 pm

I added a power brake booster kit to my Charger finally! I had added a SSBC disc brake kit years ago and it still required a lot of pedal effort to stop with those 4 piston calipers for the obvious reasons. Wish I did this years ago!

I also disassembled my taillight housing and polished the lenses inside and out. I then went through my parts stash and grabbed all my best chrome pieces I had. I also used the best housings I had too. Looks a lot better and more importantly, the lights are brighter!

Looking good, Jeff!

Is that a new-to-you Dakota I see there?

Thanks! Ryan, the Dakota is a 02 with a 4.7 V8. I hate it!! The motor has a noisy lifter and now the head gasket is leaking near cylinder 1! Burns some oil too. Not sure if I am going to fix the motor or replace the truck. It dose have 208.000 miles on it. I like the 3.9 or 5.2 motors better myself!

Yeah those early 4.7s had some issues.

They revised them in 2008 and those have been much better - of course then they discontinued the motor entirely in 2013.
My father's 09 has the 4.7 and it has tons of power. Too bad Chrysler didn't get it right the first time with that motor.

Truck looks like it is in good shape (at least on that side). Might be worth it to do the motor swap.
