More picture fun.

Any ideas why the A. Fender tag is blank except for two numbers?
&
B. What the Serial Number on the Block refers to? Any way to track it down to the original car?

Not sure what the second fender tag is for, usually it`s for more options that wouldn`t fit on the first tag? NUmbers on block tell year -F - and displacement - 383 Obvioulsy and serial number is last 8 digits of vin but unless somebody has a match ther eis really no way to find original car.

If the 400 is the original to the parts car obviuoly the vin number should match.

Maaaan , That motor look's right at home in there ! As far as the other tag go's . I know on the specialty Mopar trucks like the lil Red and the Midnight they had tags like that for the assembly line to tell them what special parts were going on those trucks . But I'm not 100 % sure for a car . Sorry I couldn't be more help .

Why did you paint the engine compartment black?? unless your painting the car black it should be body color..sorry for the rant but its one of my biggest pet peeves with mopars..

Maybe because it's "his" car ?

Haha! Definitely because it is my car! Haha

The engine bay was black before my time. I thought it looked nice.
By chance the 383 engine I am building will be the classic Orange color with back highlights. Highlights meaning, wrinkle black valve covers, black plug wires, distributor cap, other brackets and pulleys. Trying to make it look a little different.

So the hope is the engine with a touch of black will match the black engine bay.

Also the engine bay being black allows me freedom to choose any body color and have it match. I really can't decide on a color at this stage. It was only yesterday I was ready to ditch these things to the scrap pile and chalk this up as a learning experience.

i ahoukd have posted that the serial numbers are for the 383 engine I am building.

Obviously yes, the 400 engine matches the parts car.

When this is all done I will most likely be parting out the Parts Car. Any interest in it?

;) His car, his rules. That's how it should be.

I dunno why people painting their engine bay black has always been such a big deal to Mopar guys, and my blood runs Mopar blue.
Sometimes when you have a nasty looking engine bay in body color it makes it look much cleaner to just spray it black and be done with it.
